Can I use your DynDNS service with a domain that I have registered with another provider?

You can also use our DynDNS service with a domain registered with another domain registrar.

The requirement for this is that you register your external domain as a DNS zone on our name servers via our customer menu and manage all DNS entries with us.

You can create the zone entry of your existing domain on our name servers yourself at no extra cost after ordering our DynDNS service.

Then, change the currently registered name servers at your external provider/registrar to our name servers so that our name servers will subsequently be responsible for the delegation of your domain.

Explanation:

To use our DynDNS service correctly, we need to be able to automatically update the DNS entries (especially the A record) for your domain.

For us to do this, we need access rights to the DNS server that is responsible for your domain.

If your domain is hosted with another domain registrar, we do not have direct access to the DNS entries of your domain.

Therefore, we cannot make the necessary DNS changes to update the dynamic IP address of your connection.

For this reason, you must set up your externally hosted domain as a DNS zone on our name servers and use our name servers so that our DynDNS service can update your dynamic IP address on our name servers.
